Friars Club Comedy Festival 2009

If all goes as planned (cross those fingers), I am getting flown to NY by the glorious Friars Club Comedy Festival to attend the festival and my screenings of Turducken.

Ravioli!? Holy Cannoli!!

This is sooooooooooo cool. The Coen brothers are going to be there!! I might even get to meet them, talk to them, quote their movies till they saunter away in disgust......

Me:

"Well, I don't want Fop, goddamn it! I'm a Dapper Dan man! "
Coens:
"(under breath)...... security!"

If it's like the other festivals I've been to, I get to go to any screenings and panels and such for free. Good deal! Cause these special events look .....spec-tacular!

Thursday
10:00 PM: Opening Night Party at the Friars Club, including a private reception with Joel and Ethan Coen at the Friars Club for VIP passholders.

Friday
12:00 PM: A private lunch with prominent Friars.

10:00 PM: Shorts Filmmaker Party -- a private party at the Friars Club with the filmmakers behind this year's lineup of shorts films.

Saturday
12:00 PM: A private lunch with the Funny Fockers panelists, including screenwriters of Night at the Museum & I Love You Man.

10:00 PM: Feature Filmmaker Party -- a private party at the Friars Club with the filmmakers behind this year's lineup of feature films.

Sunday
4:30 PM: Closing Party and Awards Ceremony

I'm a little low on the old casheeesh! So I'm staying at a hostel in Manhattan. I've never stayed at a hostel. My only experience with them is seeing the movie Hostel. I'm hoping when I stay at this NY hostel, rich people aren't going to pay elaborate sums to kill me.
Here's to hoping am I right!?? Plus a soft bed would be a distant second. Private shower third...but again being alive...#1 for sure..

Maybe I'll even win something! maybe? possibly? Why not me right?

Maybe I'll be able to meet someone who can help make "Turducken the Series" happen. A half hour of Turduckeny glory on TV. Let's do this!!

Turducken plays in the "Drop your shorts" program on Friday night and again as a trailer before the feature "Jesus People Film" which looks awesome.

If you are in NY or that general NY area....come on out! Do it!......do it...seriously

Lookey!!

BEAR-HORSE!

It's a rock song, it's a sitcom....It's Bear-Horse!

Yes in freakin' deedy! I just uploaded a Claymation/Stopmotion thingy that is known as BEAR-HORSE!

I took a stop motion class waaaaaaaay back in 2006. I've always wanted to do something in clay. That being said.. it was extremely difficult.

Working with actors is a bitch! Especially when your actors can't lift their wire arms up to their faces. Plus I had no way of testing what I was shooting. So I just winged the heck out of it. Just using the picture review button as some kind of guide.

Mantra on this short? "That'll do pig...that'll do...."

I killed 7 horses and 11 bears and wore their hides to get into character. It was intense...but so worth it. So very, very worth it.

Incidentally, I have 3 spare BEAR-HORSE LIVES fruit of the loom t-shirts available in large if anyone wants one.

Watch Bear-Horse do to sitcoms what I've been wanting to do for a while.

Turducken playing tonight @ LIAF

Ello Guvna! Fancy a spot o' tea my lovelies? Ooshe Booshe Boo?

Turducken plays in the LATE NIGHT BIZARRE tonight in London at the Horse Hospital. I've never been, but I think that is where they cure horses. So in my minds eye the films of tonight will probably be played off the back of a sick horse.

I encourage this! I think all my cartoons should be played on a sick horse. Screw Dvd, Internet, Blue Ray. Sick Horses are the future of entertainment.

I'm so cock sure that I'm going to buy up stock. Who's with me!? Huh? C'mon!!!!!

"cough cough!"

SPECIAL THANKS to KEVIN SMITH and SCOTT MOSIER!

What a week!

I was mentioned in SModcast 93: Alive with Pleasure. Kevin Smith gave me a plug on there as well. It was out-freakin-standing. (at about 12:30 mins into the show)

I am a HUUUuuuugggeee fan of SModcast. I've listened to it from episode 1. To be mentioned in it and have them say my website and give me some props blew my mind. My mind is still blown.

It's like going to see the new Harry Potter movie and Harry turning to the screen and saying "Hey Steve, yeah you..... 3rd row 5 seats in..... Cool hair! Also! heck of a pair of slacks!" And me just sitting there eyes all wide and mouth hanging open. Harry Fucking Potter just said my name! Did you guys hear that? That magical mother fucker was talking about me!!

Amazing. So unexpected and so awesome.

Check out this sweet news bit from news askew

I don't really know what twitter is yet...I'll have to get on there and try to throw a thanks at Kevin.

I've always had a bunch of Smod's that I had ideas for animating, so I will definitely do another after I finish up these other couple short ideas I have going.

So Thanks Again Kevin and Scott and all the people on youtube sending me the love.

That rocked my world.

For the Love of SMod!

I love SModcast so much... I made a cartoon about it.

I did a limited animation of a excerpt from SModcast Episode 76: The Great One

It's that old chestnut of a story about a guy who is in charge of icing the rink for the Olympics and places a pair of panties as a center point in the ice.

The kind of story heroes are born from.

Maybe Jude Law will be playing the "Ice man" in a upcoming Hollywood film. Or maybe Shia Labeouf.... That dude is in every movie now. Put some Beouf on that ice.

Check it out on Youtube!

New Store and 7 part DVD series

I recently finished up a new store design. It's designed after one of my favorite things on this planet.....fast food.

I used to eat alot more of it and now have dreams of it cause I can't really eat it. Oh how it's glorious....but I digress...

Check out the new STORE! I even hired a employee to man the till.

I'm not sure how to get flash to open things in a new window so that can be kind of annoying when you click on something. So if any of you internet-ers now the secrets of flash...lemme know.

On a second note,

Veronica Galvez of www.iwanttoshootyou.com who I met in LA @ LA comedy shorts bought a Happy Dog T-shirt for her happy dog. I asked her to send me some photos of her dog wearing the T and she was kind enough to send some to me.
Check out her site! She is a talented photographer and a heck of a bowler.

Is that a happy dog or what?

On a third note,

The Adventures of Attractive Man is complete. A lowbrow, sick and twisted style 7 part comedy series. All done in glorious limited animation.

I compiled it all onto a DVD with plenty of Outtakes and Bloopers by the awesome cast. It was fun to do and went through a lot of learning while making this series.

Check out the trailer!!

Turducken @ the Melbourne International Animation Festival

G'day Mates and plenty of other Austrailian sterotypes!

I'm going down on Mel......Down Under that is! At the Melbourne International Animation festival.

Turducken will be playing there with a bunch of other wicked cool films in the "LATE NIGHT BIZARRE".

I saw Mike Geigers "Cuddle Sticks" in NY at the Animation Block Parties opening night. As well as "Fantasie In Bubblewrap" played along with "Turducken" on the later Sunday shows for Animation Block party.

Very cool to be played among the list of films they have:

I'm playing along with Super Jail! Wooo!

Goat Away!!

Hey people of earth. What's going on?

I've been super late in posting things. Just up to my gills in paper work, Buying socks, testing kites, doing full flips into shallow water and juggling jagged skull crushing rocks.

Sure these are important things, But not so important that I not inform you of the new little toon I did called "Goat Away".

It was voiced and written by my old friend Stephen Kan-Hai and I.

How did it come to be you ask? Oh...you didn't ask that? Well, I'll tell you anyways...

Goat Away is based on a old inside joke based on our finding comedy in saying the name Bill.
It evolved to be a man slowly turning into a goat while saying the name Bill.
Over the years occasionally we would leave these inside jokes on each others answering machines.

We wrote it up over Christmas holidays and I animated it around January or so. I completely forgot about it. I am working on a 7 part series and writing a whole bunch so I kept forgetting to put it up on the old internet.

So if you haven't seen it here is some inside jokery turned cartoonery.

NBC news & Melbourne International Animation Festival

Howdy doody there kiddy poos. It's your old pal Steve Stark here to tell you that Turducken was invited to be screened in competition (in the late night program) in Melbourne International Animation festival 2009.

Fun fun!! I've never been invited into a festival before. Come to think of it, I've never been invited anywhere....Ever. Now I can finally stop crying myself to sleep & crying myself awake daily.

Also!

I just got word that a segment from Turducken was included on NBC for a promo for LA Comedy shorts 09. It happens to be the only part of the cartoon that I voiced. The Cheif of Police.

"You're on NBC Turducken!!"

I hope all you rascals out there in the internet lands are having a heck of a time.

Till next time..

LA Comedy Shorts 09

I had a great time in LA this weekend. So I thought I put up a whole bunch of pics.
LA Comedy shorts was so fun. Great parties, Great people, Great free stuff.

It's me!

An orange I found in a drawer in the hotel room. Weird.

My Buddy Tak came down to LA as well. My old friend and classmate Michael Fallik from good old Class 55 was there as well. Good to have some friends there in LA. One of my other friends was supposed to come as well, but he bitched out.

The Gun Club was awesome. You get a wicked high after shooting a gun. Kind of like the day after you get laid. Who knew!?

Shooting a Beretta

All those hours playing duck hunt did me well. If Zombies attack, give me a call. I can do head shots like it's no ones business.

Me chillin with Samwise Gamgee

The "Famous People talking about shit" panel

The Downtown Independent. Home of the 09' LA comedy shorts festival.

It kind of looks like we're stuck in that prison General Zod and gang where trapped into in Superman.

AaaaaaaaaahhH!!!

Gettin kneed in the face by Magic Johnson.

Friday's afterpary @ Luckystrike lanes

Us all hanging with Gary Anthony WIlliams
Festival Artistic Director

Jeannie Roshar
Festival Director

The last shot from LA at LAX.

Overall it was an awesome time. My Cartoon Turducken got a great showing. The other directors showing that night and I did a little Q&A with the audience which was pretty cool.

I met a ton of awesome people, laughed, attended parties, stayed in a great hotel (The Kyoto Grand-nice and cheap care of the festival) shot a gun, Ate at In & Out burger and ate some awesome Korean Bbq.

It was an awesome experience and I recommend that anyone who can make it to LA goes and checks that festival out. It is packed to the brim with awesomeness.
